Visitors can see one of the tallest ships in Dublin Port
Who wants to know what the inside of a big ship is like has to visit the Cuauhtémoc, a Mexican tall ship docked at Sir John Rogerson’s Quay in Dublin. It is one of the world’s largest tall ships, weighing 1,800 tonnes, 270 ft long and carrying 179 sailors on board.
The Cuauhtémoc is a sail training vessel for the Mexican Navy and it was built in the Celaya shipyards. Most of the cadets on board are young and this voyage is part of their training. The last time the Cuauhtémoc visited Dublin was in 2012 as part of the Tall Ship Races, when it welcomed over 23,000 visitors on board.
The visit is free and is part of the 40th anniversary celebration of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ireland and Mexico. After Dublin the ship will sail to England.
If you want to visit it you can go to Sir John Rogerson’s Quay in Dublin until Sunday. The opening times to the public are on Friday and Saturday between 10.00 and 19.00, and on Sunday from 10.00 to 15.00.
