Music is said to be the international language that we all can understand and relate to. I strongly believe in this statement and add that it has the power to bring people together. With that I give you the Top 5 Music Events occurring in Dublin this weekend to help you distress and connect.

Smokie

Smokie, the firey band from the 60s/70s still has an ember underneath them as they continue to perform at Vicar Street this Saturday. The group is originally formed in Yorkshire in 1964. After a underappreciated first album, their second album “Changing All The Time” skyrocketed them into fame featuring the single, “If You Think You Know How To Love Me”. Their music is a collection of pop and soft rock that really soothes the soul.

The Young Folk

This indie rock folk group originally from Dublin is set to take the stage tonight only at The Academy. If you’re into folky music like The Fleet Foxes or Mumford and Sons then The Young Folk should be right up your alley. Formed in 2012, the band quickly gained popularity playing at Irish festival Electric Picnic and performing on late night shows such as The Saturday Night Show with Brendan O’Connor. This is the group’s only show so don’t miss out on your chance to witness the folk fun tonight!

Raising Jupiter

A power house three piece rock trio from Cork, Raising Jupiter brings out the catchy riffs to debut their new EP “Standing In The Night.” The band is set to play at the Hard Rock Cafe for free in honor to promote their new EP. The group brings a tremendous mix of hard rock and punk for an in your face grundgy sounds that is sure to get you amped up. Raising Jupiter will also be playing next week performing their “Standing In The Night” EP in Cork at Fred Zeppelin’s.

Mind Fuzz

Dublin’s only psychedelic party will have you digging out your tye dyes and bell bottoms. Mind Fuzz is a psychedelic dance party that will having you grooving like it’s 1969. Featuring Marc – Andre Brucker as deejay for the night as well as loads of swirling lights and a packed dance floor. Mind Fuzz will bring you back to the days of peace and love but most importantly great music!

The Bionic Rats

Straight out of Dublin, The Bionic Rats bring the upbeat syncopated ska reggae you need on your Friday night to get you dancing. The band is set to play at Turks Head for the last two Fridays of October. With a history of playing with big name acts such as Madness, Damien Dempsey and The Infomatics these guys will surely put on an energetic show for you.
