Anti-Semitism: Jews are leaving the UK

Mark Lewis, who is a famed libel and privacy lawyer, is leaving UK. Worn down by years of anti-Semitic abuse and death threats, he chose to leave.

Anti-semitism is hostility to prejudice or discrimination against Jews. It is generally considered to be a form of racism. It has also been characterized as a political ideology to serve as a principle and unite disparate groups, who are opposed to liberalism.

The reason why he is quitting the UK is that he feels no longer safe because of anti-Semitism. He and his wife, Mandy Blumenthal, said that they have received so much abuse on it and they are going to move to Israel in December.

“I just want to leave here. People might dislike me in Israel because of my political views, like thinking I am right-wing or left-wing. But they are not going to dislike me for being Jewish.” Lewis thought that being a Jewish is not a fault and it is enough for him. He is reached the stage of “almost being desensitized to the threats”.

However, UK has been considered as one of the safest places for Jews to live in the world. Unlike the neighbouring France, where terror attacks are always happening on Jews.

According to the Chairman of the Coalition Against Antisemitism, Gideon Falter, said that, it can see that British Jews is leaving the UK, not just moving to Israel, but also to the US, Canada or even Australia.
