As every year, the Italian Fusion Festival is coming back this weekend! The event is organised by Radio Dublino, a weekly Italian radio magazine broadcast since 2013 every Wednesday on Near FM at 9.30 pm.
The programme is managed by volunteers and addresses not only the Italian community in Dublin, but whoever is interested in Italian language and culture, aiming for a continuous exchange between Italy and Ireland.
That’s why at the Italian Fusion Festival you can find the most talented Irish-Italian bands for an evening of alternative fusion sounds, Italian food and visual art!
All participating bands have performed on Radio Dublino shows and offer an exciting overview of the latest music trends on the Dublin scene, moving from different kinds of Rock (even Folk and Alternative) to acoustic Metal and Jazz. Among the many bands, you will find the Pointbreak, the Water’s Edge, The Stoles, the Headtrip Acoustic Project, the Order of the Mess and Francesco Turrisi Trio. Check the schedule here!
But music is not the only protagonist! You will try some Italian stalls, take part in a Short Video Competition or even enjoy the Vespa exhibition! The different models of the iconic Italian scooter will be on display in front of the Grand Social.
And then, starting from 3.30pm to 8.30, you can attend several workshops to plunge even more into the Italian world, learning about the traditional dance called “Pizzica” in a workshop lead by Eliana Valentina, and about Italian gestures too with Elena Cristofanon’s workshop. There is also the opportunity to know more about Irish traditional dance with Alan McGreek and about Irish folk music with a workshop organised by Sean Whelan.
The event is taking place this Sunday, from 3pm to 10pm at The Grand Social, Liffey Street, Dublin 1 (beside the Ha’penny Bridge).
