Seeing History isn’t Free

People who want to see Leicester winning Premier League or Kobe Bryant’s last match, have to prepare all their savings.

Tickets to watch Premier League leaders Leicester’s final home game are being offered for £15,000 a pair through an online re-sale website. The 7 May match against Everton, which could see the Foxes become champions, sold out in 90 minutes on Monday.

But within hours, individual tickets were being advertised for more than £3,000 each and a pair for much more. The club said it would “take action against any ticket touting” or attempts to “resell tickets above face value”. Leicester are seven points clear of nearest rivals Tottenham with five games left. They have already secured Champions League football and need three more wins to guarantee the Premier League title.

At the same time basketball fans are paying up to $27,500 (£19,315) to see Kobe Bryant’s final game for the LA Lakers. Bryant, 37, the third-highest scorer in NBA history, will bring his 20-year career to an end when the Lakers face Utah Jazz in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

Few minutes later defending champions Golden State Warriors will be going for a record 73 wins when they host Memphis Grizzlies in Oakland, California. Resale tickets for that game are going for up to $15,900 (£11,155). The Warriors are looking to break a record set by Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls in 1995-96.

That’s why it is better to be the all-time supporteur and buy membership before season start.
