Are you looking for an opportunity to engage with your community on a more meaningful level? The NCP’s intercultural family day is the perfect place and absolutely free

On Saturday the 14th the likes of Fabu-D, David Stanton and various community groups will come together for an intercultural family day full of fun, food and activities at Croke park’s hogan mezzanine suite.

The event is being run by the New Communities Partnership’s (NCP) and it is expected to be their biggest-ever annual Intercultural Family Day to date.

Who and what now?

The event will be compared by the side-splittingly funny Fabu-D, a Dublin based Nigerian-Irish comedian who has been making a name for himself in Ireland over the past couple of years. Between his bits, the day will be punctuated by a showcase of cultures from our diverse community.

“I’m happy to be a part of the project because it’s good to see unity amongst people of different ethnic backgrounds who are coming together to celebrate culture and embrace individuality. Being an Irish/African comedian, it gives me joy to see joy and to make different cultures laugh” Fabu-D

Live dance performances, Latvian choirs and speeches from community members and politicians are to be expected, including a speech from the minister of integration, David Stanton. Most importantly, however, there is a free lunch between 1 and 2 pm.

So far, performances are expected from members of the Chinese, Moldovan, South American, Eastern Europe, Indian and African communities of Dublin.

The event will also provide entertainment for kids with face painting, games, an art corner and a visit from Santa.

Who are the organisers and what’s so special about them anyway?

The International Family Day organisers, the NCP, is an organisation made up of a network of over 150 immigrant-led groups and includes more than 65 nationalities. They are run by community-based volunteers whose primary aim is to tackle real issues that affect real families, particularly in the migrant community and empower them to enable change themselves. Many of the members have first-hand experience with the issues they are combatting.

Due to more funding than in previous years, the NCP were able to splash out on a bigger space and will be hosted this year in the Hogan Mezzanine Suite in Croke Park Stadium.
