Stay Aware Of Your Personal Details

Tech giants including Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Dropbox and more than two dozen other Internet companies have declared support for Apple in its battle with the US government. The FBI demands Apple to decrypt an iPhone used by the perpetrators of a mass shooting in San Bernardino, California.

This is a very hard case to discuss and both the FBI as well as Apple have their arguments. What is more important? Freedom and the right to defend our personal details from anybody, or giving tools to politicians to control us better. For our security – but still control. Who will control those who control us and on the other hand how can we fight terrorism effectively?

The FBI demands Apple to remove security features  from their software and write a new operating system. A statement by described this as “an over-reach by the US government” with “chilling implications” on customer privacy and security.

That’s what the other tech companies also think.

“While the companies that signed this brief are often fierce competitors, our unity with Amazon. com, Box, Cisco, Dropbox, Evernote, Facebook, Google, Mozilla, Nest Labs, Pinterest, Slack, Snapchat, WhatsApp and Yahoo, reflects our deep, shared concerns about the potential ramifications of this case for technology and for our customers” – Microsoft stated.

Apple will probably win in court, but the US-government and its organs should remember that this doesn’t mean that the American companies don’t want to cooperate. They just want fair rules.

“We should look to Congress to strike the balance needed for 21st century technology” – said Microsoft president Brad Smith.
The struggle between the USA and companies which keep private informations about ourselves will probably not end in near future. That’s public information.
