Truck Driver driving into crowds on Bastille Day

What was a wonderful, patriotic and proud day for all of France turned into a horror show when a truck driver ran over and killed 84 people and injured more than 18 people. The truck driver was later shot dead by the police. A wave of sadness has taken over the country where people are still shocked over what happened.

The driver who is a ISIS fanatic 31 years old named Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel produced a gun also opened fire to kill more people. He also zig zagged the truck to kill more people. At least ten children are among those dead and about 50 were hospitalised. The two children died during surgery at a paediatric hospital close the scene of the attack, and others were “hanging between life and death,” a hospital official said.
Three days of national mourning has been declared from July 15th. Flags will be flown at half-mast from today, and law enforcements will be given extra powers and police enforcement will be strengthened. Counter-terrorist agents were looking to recognize the driver. A nearby government official said weapons and explosives were found inside the 25-ton, unmarked verbalized truck.
People have taken to social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter to search those their loved ones who are missing and just to get the messages across. #JeSuisNice has now emerged in response to an attack in the southern French city of Nice. People are using the hashtags to express their grief and extend their help to those in need. Other than this #PorteOuverteNice is being used on Twitter to offer shelter and homes to those in need. Thousands have also posted under the hashtag #RechercheNice, or “search Nice”, in the hope of finding their friends and families. #Nice06, a reference to the postcode of the district where the tragedy occurred, also being used by many on social media. #PrayForNice also has been rapidly making the rounds on Twitter, with numerous people communicating their feelings and disgust over the assaults.
Facebook immediately enacted its security check highlight, which naturally sent people in the affected territories a message to inquire as to whether they were sheltered. The component goes about as a method for finding loved ones in nearby areas and ensuring whether they are safe or if they need help.
As Nice is just 35 kms from Italy, Italy will be boosting control across the borders and increase the level of security at three road crossings into France and at the Ventimiglia train link between the two countries.
