How happy are you? The answer according to a study produced by Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) depends on where you were born. The World Happiness Report is a landmark survey of the state of global happiness. In 2015, 158 countries are on the list.
The report showed that the five happiest nations are Swtizerland, Iceland, Denmark, Norway and Canada. All those countries have a good human development index, which is used to rank nations into four tiers of human development.
But the study demonstrated that is not just about money. Developing countries like Costa Rica and Mexico are happier than United States and most part of Western Europe. Ireland ranks as the 18th happiest country on the planet, ahead of United Kingdom(21th), France(29th) , Germany(26th) and Italy (50th). On the other hand, the saddest nations are Togo, Burundi, Syria, Benin and Rwanda.
The survey was led by an international team of economists, neuroscientists, and statisticians just and aims to help guide public policy around the world.
I am from Brazil, a place known by the joy of the people, so it wasn´t a surprise for me seeing my country ahead developed countries on the rank. What about you? Do you agree with the study?
