Donuts in Dublin

Recent times has seen a surge in popularity with donut shops opening around the city. These delicious sites of doughy sugary goodness are equally unique, while all serving the common purpose of bringing inventive, delicious flavours to donut lovers. Number one on my list is Aungier Danger.

It’s a small shop with a counter displaying the goods. I can’t decide my favourite. The salted caramel and Nutella are top notch. The red velvet “crime scene” donut is beyond description. You can also grab a coffee or tea to accompany your donut(s) (no one is counting here). NB If you are planning a visit, better come early as they will close once they have sold out for the day!

Aungier Danger donuts and deli can be found on 37 Aungier St.

Offbeat Donut Co.

Very conveniently situated beside Pearse station at the back of Trinity College, Offbeat Donut has all the classics when it comes to donuts, and then some. It provides a bit of a twist on your typical dessert (think: crème brûlée or strawberries and cream!) and some decadent versions of your favorite treats (the cookies and crème is my favourite, followed by Ferrero Rocher coming in close second). Its better value to get a box of three, so you may as well get a selection to try! Offbeat is sure to have whatever you need to satisfy your donut craving.

The Rolling Donut

The Rolling Donut has been a staple, tucked in beside Global Internet Cafe and Bank of Ireland on O’Connell Street. Warm sugary, ring donuts with a hint of cinnamon? Yes please. Sometimes, the simple things in life are the best. Another bigger store has popped up on Bachelors Walk – with some amazing donut flavours, including some Irish inspired variations!

Krüst

Krüst will not only sort you out with some divine donuts stuffed to the gills with fillings, but they will offer a different take on the humble donut. Head to their bakery on Great South Georges St. to taste – the cronut. A mixture of flaky croissant pastry in donut form. Choose from a variety of flavours including Snickers, Nutella or a classic glazed cronut.

Wherever you choose, Dublin’s donuts do not disappoint!
