Italian Art and its Icons – lecture

Italian art is well-known throughout the world. In almost every European country, taking lessons about it is obligatory. However, if you forget the basics or just want to broaden your mind, the Italian Institute of Culture is organising a lecture called “Italian Arts and its Icons” on 24th March.

There will be three lectures. The first one is given by Paolo Bartoloni and is about trans-temporality and the afterlife of authenticity: The case of Florence.

He is a professor of Italian studies at the National University of Ireland in Galway. He has published many books and articles about temporal and spatial thresholds, emphasising the essential potentiality and interstitiality of modern art.

Afterwards, Michael Cronin will be talking about “Wild Atlantic Ways? Cultural – Tourism in the Age of the Anthropocene”.

He is a professor of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Dublin City University and an Honorary Member of the Irish Translators’ and Interpreters’ Association. His publications included topics about Tourism, Culture, Identity, Language and Translation.

The last talk is “In Florence. The Renaissance as a challenge for the contemporary” by Valentina Zucchi. She is a Scientific Cultural Mediation Manager at the Associazione Mus.e – Firenze. The organization promotes Florentine Civic Museums and the city of Florence. They organize workshops, events, and cultural festivals.
