After two years in captivity by the Boko Haram militant group, twenty-one of the missing Chibok girls have been released. This is the largest number of release so far. The girls are a part of the group of 276 girls abducted by Boko Haram in April 2014, when the militants took them from their beds in the middle of the night.  According to a spokesman for the President, Mallam Garba Shehu, the release was as a result of the negotiations between the government and the insurgents.
