Top 3 Events for April 30th

Dancehall teacher for the top three events in Dublin today

In honour of International Dance Day (29th April) and International Jazz Day (30th April), we have chosen three events in Dublin for you to celebrate with us today!

It is the last day of the month, do not waste it 😀

Dancehall Class – Intermediate level

Dancehall is a genre of Jamaican popular music. Initially, dancehall was a more sparse version of reggae than the roots style, which had dominated much of the 1970s. In the mid-1980s, digital instrumentation became more prevalent, changing the sound considerably, with digital dancehall (or “ragga”) becoming increasingly characterized by faster rhythms.
Today, you have the chance to try it in the Brazilian teacher’s, Lucille Aires, one-hour long class.
Each class is a different scenario which gives students the opportunity to learn moves in various songs and improve their skills during the class.

Where: The Real Dance Studio, 40 N Lotts, North City, Dublin 1.

When: 6:45pm to 7:45pm.

How much: €13 at the door.

Plaza Real The music of Weather Report

Bassist Barry Donohue leads ‘Plaza Real’, a band dedicated to playing the music of 70/80’s jazz fusion group Weather Report.
Expect trance-inducing grooves, high energy explosive solo sections, some filthy grooves, mellow open simmering passages, bouncy grooves, balls-to-the-wall rock-outs, soaring melodies, sexy grooves, outer-space grooves, melodies again! Many many beautiful melodies played on top of mostly open and interactive groove based passages.

Where: Arthur’s Pub, 28 Thomas Street, Dublin 8.

When: 8:00pm.

How much: € 10 at the door.

Signal Series April – ReDiviDeR | The Aoife Doyle Band

The third edition of IMC’s monthly night of Irish jazz, The Signal Series, takes place on International Jazz Day. On the bill are two-horns-no-chords quartet ReDiviDeR and Wicklow vocalist Aoife Doyle with her band.
The Signal Series is a live monthly double-header concert series from IMC presenting the best emerging and established jazz acts from across Ireland.
