Saucer Hat Making

A course for intermediate students who want to learn how to create large brimmed saucer style hats. Acquire blocking techniques to create large brimmed headpieces to compliment outfits for race meetings and weddings. Once various blocking techniques are mastered learn wiring, trimming and finishing skills. Reading notes available to take home.

Cinema Book Club: Howl’s Moving Castle

Delighted to announce that The Light House Cinema next screening will be Hayao Miyazaki’s animated adaptation of Dianne Wynn-Jones’ Howl’s Moving Castle. The story is set in a fictional kingdom where both magic and early 20th century technology are prevalent, against the backdrop of a war with another kingdom. The film tells the story of a young hatter named Sophie after she is turned into an old woman by a witch’s curse. She encounters a wizard named Howl, and gets caught up in his resistance to fighting for the king.

Riverdance Summer School Trinity College Dublin 2018

Did you watch the Riverdance performance during the week? Are you interested in this traditional Irish dance? Here comes a chance for you to learn! It is taught by the Riverdance professional dancers, the participants of the 6 day summer school will learn the iconic choreography from the show. They will also train in all aspects of being a professional dancer and students over the age of 18 can use this week as an audition for the show. As well as all the dancing, there will be a strong emphasis on nutrition, mindset, strength and conditioning, leadership, team work, rest and recovery and general personal management that is sure to make a difference in every dancer’s life.
