US pharmaceutical firm to create 200 jobs in Limerick

Pharmaceutical company Regeneron, has announced 200 jobs and an additional investment of $350m at its biopharmaceutical production facility in Limerick.

As the company had already filled its original quota of 300 employees, this new investment will add up to 500 jobs by 2017 in its first bio processing centre outside of the US.

Recruitment is underway to bring the additional jobs in “commercial manufacturing, process sciences, quality assurance/control and various support functions for scientists, chemists and technicians”.

Mid-west employment plan

Regeneron’s announcement was followed by more good news for the mid-west region, as the Government aims to create 23,000 new jobs by 2020 as part of a plan launched today.

The plan aims to increase the number of startups in the region by 25pc and will see the establishment of a fund to assist new companies in sectors such as aviation, engineering, tourism and agriculture.
