16 June is Bloomsday and it is the biggest imaginable holiday for James Joyce fans. Non-fans, on the other hand, don’t really get the Bloomsday craze at all. The celebration is based on an imaginary account in the James Joyce novel Ulysses of what happened on 16 June. If Star Trek fans (or similar) celebrated a random imaginary day like Joyce fans do, we would declare them as crazy.

Joye at the Opera – Concert

Joyce at the Opera is a concert featuring music that was central to Joyce’s life and writings. Trieste-based artists Ilaria Zanetti (Soprano), Riccardo Rados (tenor) and Alessandra Sagelli Caoduro (piano) will be joined by Irish singers Owen Gilhooly (tenor) and Noel O’Grady (tenor).

Pieces of the boulder will be carried on subsequent walks from August onward.

People’s Park Market

The Park has been open to the public since 1890 and features great examples of Victorian architecture with the Gate Lodge and the Tea Rooms, a bandstand featuring the original gaslight standards and a playground.
