Top 10 Coffee Places in Dublin

Here’s the thing, I love coffee. I think by now my Instagram is at least 75% pictures of cute coffees I’m drinking.

So since, I’m spending so much time (and money) discovering lovely little coffee shops in town I thought I’d share them with you.

Now, a small disclaimer, I’m not an expert. I’ve never taken any barista classes, though I kind of want to. For this list I stuck to tiny, independent places. Though I love Starbucks, it’s pretty much the same everywhere you go. This is a very subjective list. If you feel like I’ve missed your favourite one, let me know and I’ll be happy to go check them out and maybe make a part two.

Number 10: Art Café

Art Cafe Front e1557695127353

This is a tiny place hidden underneath the bridge, if you don’t pay attention you’d walk straight past it.It feels like you’re hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. And if you have that with good coffee, what else do you need?

They’re serving snacks and lunch as well, though I haven’t tried those out yet. They also have events going on with live music where you can BYOB for a fiver per bottle.

Number 9: First Draft Coffee & Wine

Now this place I found through a friend of mine who had posted something on her Instagram Story. The place looked so cute, I just had to go and try it out. It did not disappoint.

First Draft Coffee and Wine e1557695192116

This shop not only serves coffee, but as the name suggests it also serves wine and if that is not the best thing ever, I don’t know what is.

The coffee is absolutely lovely, they’re using a nice brown roast and if I lived in the area I’d probably stop by before work every morning.

Number 8: Bread 41

The smell of fresh bread rolls over you like a blanket as soon as you walk into Bread 41. It’s just the most comforting thing. Now, this place has all the good stuff. They sell delicious bread, muffins, and the best croissants I’ve had the pleasure to eat in Dublin.

Bread 41 Front

Bread 41 uses the infamous 3fe coffee beans. 3fe also has their own coffee shop in town. The roast tends to be on the more bitter side. I know that’s not everyone’s cup of tea (pun intended) so just a fair warning for that.

Number 7: The Chocolate Factory

This place serves multiple purposes. First of all, it has tons of events throughout the year. I went to a little Comic Fair with the focus on Irish cartoonists and it was just great fun. The amount of talent in one room was amazing!

The other purpose, is serving great coffee and brunch. Be sure to check it out, because it’s fabulous.

Number 6: The Cake Café

I found this place by accident. I’d like to call it fate but I don’t know if I can go that far. This place is hidden away at the back of The Last Bookshop. I was browsing when I saw a tiny dog in front of a glass door that I would have walked by. Through the window I could spot this green little oasis. I knew I had to go check it out.

The place is lovely on a sunny day, where you can sit on the terrace and enjoy a great cup of coffee and possibly a slice of cake or even brunch.

The Cake Café also does catering.

Number 5: Le Petit Parisien

Le Petit Parisien Front e1557695444305

I love this place so much. In my opinion, they serve the BEST strawberry tarts in the entire city. The décor of the place is so lovely. It feels so cosy and there’s Parisian details everywhere. It’s just overall a great experience and it’s right in the middle of town.

Number 4: Love Is Art Atelier

Love is Art Atelier Front

Love Is Art is just one of those little oddballs that found its way into my heart because it has everything. The coffee is amazing and it comes in these adorable cups that I love. There’s so much to look at in the café, there’s art on the walls, streamers hanging from the ceiling. The atmosphere is fantastic and I feel like I leave with just a bit more pep in my step. To be fair that could also be the caffeine.

Make sure to also try the cheesecake.

Number 2: Mind The Step

This coffee shop has only been open for a couple of months, but it is a solid number two in my opinion. It’s a three minute walk from Love Is Art Atelier, which is how I discovered it.

Mind The Step Front

Mind The Step with its high ceilings and white walls, is the perfect writing spot. With every cup of coffee they make, you can see that they care. It’s in all the little touches.

Mind The Step

They’re not serving brunch yet, but it is in their plan so stay tuned. There are also a ton of events and dance classes, so go check out their Facebook page or just walk in and sign up.

Number 1: Wall & Keogh Tea

Now my ultimate, best coffee ever, rightfully goes to Wall & Keogh. Their house roast has this chocolatey taste to it that tickles my taste buds and brings me to coffee heaven.

For the tea lovers, they have over 150 different kinds of tea. So that’s at least 150 visits with a different tea covered. I mean, there’s only so many times you can drink peppermint or green tea, right?

That’s it. My list of the best coffee places in Dublin. If you have some I should check out, let me know in the comments and I’ll be sure to pay them a visit.

  1. Great list with lots of places I havn’t checked out but remember I walked past lots of times. One thing that I love about a good coffee place is low music volume or just a relaxing background noise. If you make a part 2, which I hope you do, could you write about that as well if it stands out as very good or bad?
