PolskaÉire Festival-2017
The PolskaÉire Festival-2017, celebrating the spirit of Irish-Polish friendship, was launched on May 26 in Gorey, North County Wexford, and is on from May 27 to June 4. This festival is a nationwide celebration of the Irish-Polish friendship and culture with more than 100 events — from sports to literature, from family events to music and a lot more, taking place all across Ireland.
The PolskaÉire Festival was started in 2015 to coincide with the UEFA Republic of Ireland vs Poland qualifier in March 2015. The festival is co-organised annually by Polish and Irish organisations and the group of devoted Polish and Irish members of Polska Éire Steering Committee, chaired by Mr. Piotr Rakowski from the Polish Embassy in Dublin. This year the festival also got support from Minister of State for Justice at the Department of Justice and Equality, David Stanton and his staff.
Now in its third edition, the festival is loaded with plenty of events to celebrate the Irish-Polish friendship, cultural diversity as well as similarities between the two nations and more importantly — share “Dobry Craic.”
Painting exhibition in Dublin, Photography exhibition titled, “Unwanted Heritage” in Galway, documentary screening in Ennis, photo exhibition in Cork, exhibition on Irish-Polish diplomatic relations in Limerick are among various events which are going on at the moment in different counties. One of the big gigs of the festival is Final Gala Concert where you can groove to the music of two amazing bands — Distinct Orbit and Imle who will be performing at the closing night on June 4, 2017. The venue for the same is Button Factory, Curved St, Temple Bar in Dublin.
