Portugal Minimum Wage 2026: €920 a Month from January
Portugal’s national minimum monthly wage is €920 in mainland Portugal from 1 January 2026, up €50 from 2025.

Portugal’s guaranteed national minimum monthly wage is €920 from 1 January 2026. The mainland rate increased by €50 from €870 in 2025.
What is the 2026 minimum wage?
The official Remuneração Mínima Mensal Garantida, usually shortened to RMMG, is €920 per month in mainland Portugal for 2026.
The change took effect on 1 January 2026 under Decree-Law 139/2025.
What should newcomers check?
If you are starting a job in Portugal, check the gross base salary in your contract and how many salary payments are made over the year. Portuguese employment packages can include holiday and Christmas allowances, so compare the full contract rather than only a monthly headline figure.
Collective agreements can also set pay above the national minimum for particular sectors or roles.
Does the same figure apply everywhere?
The €920 figure is the national mainland rate. The autonomous regions of Madeira and the Azores can set their own regional minimum wages, so workers there should check the local rate.
