The Rain hit Ireland, don’t expect The Heatwave to end
In the absence of heavy rain for nearly three weeks, parts of the country are experiencing showers on Wednesday.
Met Éireann said it expects showers in the next few days, but dry and warm weather will continue.
This week’s yellow drought warning state continued until Friday, and the drought situation in the region was “alleviated” this week. However, the small amount of rainfall will not have much impact on drought conditions.
Met Éireann forecaster Liz Gavin said Wednesday’s heavy rains and drizzle will mainly affect the northern region.
“At the moment there are outbreaks of rain and drizzle in the north but amounts overall are going to be small,” she added.
“Elsewhere across the country, really you’d be lucky to get a shower. There is a lot of dry weather continuing for the coming few days.”
The cloudy sky on Wednesday will bring sporadic rain and drizzle, but it will be dry most of the time. The maximum temperature will be between 17 and 22 degrees, and some fog will develop overnight.
There are occasional showers on Thursday, but most of the time will be dry, with hazy sunshine and a high of between 20 and 23 degrees.
Friday will be warm and sunny, with occasional showers in the south of the country in the afternoon, with temperatures ranging from 20 to 26 degrees.
Most parts of the country are expected to be dry and sunny on Saturday, but the amount of clouds will increase in the western and northwestern coastal regions during the day. The maximum temperature is between 21 and 27 degrees.
There are concerns that Tropical Storm Chris has been upgraded to a hurricane by the National Hurricane Center and may cause some disruption to the calm weather we experience.
But as the hurricane heads northeast toward Canada, Ireland does not seem to be affected.
