DART Services Between Bray and Greystones canceled following Fire
The Dart line between Bray and Greystones in Wicklow County were closed on Friday following a fire on Bray Head.
The Wicklow Fire Department said the fire broke out in front of a tent and “spreaded along a steep ground at a steep location around 1 am.”
The fire is now under control – but the fire department said the railway infrastructure was damaged and is now being evaluated by IarnródÉireann.
The signal and telecommunications cables are damaged when the flame spreads from the tent away from the track.
However, the Irish Railways later announced that it would close the service for the rest of the day and warned customers to make other travel arrangements.
The company apologized for the convenience of its customers. Barry Kenny of the Irish Railways said that the Dublin bus will accept a valid ticket until the line is reopened to passengers.
He said:”Services suspended at present between Bray and Greystones due to fire adjacent to line on Bray Head. Dublin Bus accepting rail tickets.”
He said: “Greystones to Bray is closed. Greystones Dart services customers can use their tickets on Dublin bus services and it will also impact people traveling Dublin to Rosslare line so we are going to have bus transfers between Bray and Greystones for people traveling on those particular trains.”
There is currently no timetable to resume service.
