Well Known Dublin Pub Burns Down
Fire crews were called out last night to tackle a blaze at a well-known pub in Tallaght.
The Dublin Fire Brigade despatched five units from Tallaght, Dolphin’s Barn and Rathfarnham to the incident at The Cuckoos Nest on Greenhill Road following reports from local residents at around 10:15pm.
The crews managed to quickly control the situation, although further action was taken at 9am this morning in order to prevent the fire from reigniting.
The fire is thought to have begun in an outbuilding behind the pub itself, although it is unclear what caused it at this point.
The once renowned pub closed in May 2015, and has since fallen into disrepair.
A spokesperson for the Dublin Fire Brigade said: “We had five units at the scene which was under control by about 11:30pm. We had cleared the scene at the empty building by midnight. The fire was at a unit within the bar complex.”
The scene remains preserved by the fire services, pending an investigation by the Gardai into the cause of the blaze.
Nobody was hurt in the incident, although the building itself sustained some structural damage, with part of the roof visibly collapsed.
