Enjoy the sunny day in Dublin! Top 5 Parks
When the sun is out Dubliners usually run to enjoy the day in one of the lovely parks that there are in the city. Why don’t you do the same?
Merrion Square Park
Do you want to meet Oscar Wilde? This park hosts the fascinating statue of the famous writer. You can stop in front of the monument and meditate about Oscar’s quotes.
“We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.”
Merrion Square Park is the most elegant park in Dublin (it’s also my favorite one). I suggest you to go there just for a walk and to admire the lovely Georgian Buildings that surround the square.
National Botanic Gardens
This wonderful garden is famous for having more than 15,000 plant species from all over the world. But also if you are not a botanic expert I’m sure that you could appreciate the lovely and quiet atmosphere of the garden! It is located in Glasnevin, Dublin 9, and the admission is free!
The Phoenix Park
Do you know that Phoenix Park is the largest urban park in Europe? Or that the Dublin Zoo inside it is considered the fourth oldest in the world? These are two good reasons to put visiting the Phoenix Parkin your agenda, but there is more! The park offers to you the possibility of running or cycling in pathway and the opportunity to see friendly deer really close.
St. Stephen’s Green
How can I forget St. Stephens Green? It’s located in the heart of the city centre. With its peaceful air, it is the perfect place in which you can enjoy a lunch outside! St. Stephen’s also offers you 3,5 km of pathway for all the use that you like. If you like jogging I think that you will love this park! You can run and admire the amazing lake or the sculptures located throughout the green.
Iveagh Gardens
I want to conclude this list of parks and gardens with one of the least known parks in Dublin: Iveagh Garden! It shows a particular kind of landscape features like grottos, woodland, a beautiful rosarium, an intricate maze… Be careful to choose the right time to go there, because the garden is opened according to daylight times.
So, what are you waiting? Enjoy this sunny day!
