Top 8 Dublin vegan takeaway options to tuck into this Veganuary

It’s mid-January, meaning Veganuary is in full swing. You’ve swapped your dairy milk for oat milk, stocked the freezer full of Quorn nuggets and Linda McCartney sausage rolls, but by now you may be hitting a bit of a slump, wondering what to cook for dinner on these cold, wet January evenings. Don’t panic just yet – we’ve compiled a list of 8 tasty vegan takeaway options in the Dublin city area, so all you have to do is put your feet up and open up Deliveroo.

V-face

Located just on the outskirts of the city centre on North Brunswick Street, V-face is Dublin’s first vegan burger joint. Their menu boasts a mouth-watering range of plant-based burgers, including their Beyond Chi burger, made with kimchi-slaw. However, if you’re not a huge burger fan, V-face still has something for you – they also serve loaded fries, vegan hot dogs and wings.

Available on Deliveroo and Just-Eat every day from 12 – 9pm

Nutbutter

This Grand Canal Dock favourite brings LA-inspired health food to the heart of Dublin city, famous for their deliciously healthy bowls; from the Mucho Vegano to their Plant Poké, the variety is second to none. Nutbutter are flexitarian, so they give the option of a meat or plant-based option for their dishes, although they are 100% plant-based by design. Some of their amazing vegan options include a wide range of vegan tacos, like their jackfruit or Chilli del Rey tacos, made with entirely-plant based mince. Nutbutter does an amazing job at ticking the boxes of being both healthy and delicious, a feat often difficult to accomplish!

Sova Vegan Butcher

Founded by chef and entrepreneur Barto Sova with the idea of enticing meat eaters to try vegan food, in 2019 Sova Vegan Butcher was listed as number 20 on popular travel site Big 7’s 50 best vegan restaurants in Europe. Located on Pleasants Street in Portobello, Sova boasts a delicious menu of creative, fine-dining style vegan dishes, with everything from sushi to doner kebabs to tempeh skewers.

Veginity

Located on Upper Dorset Street, Veginity has got double the selection; they are now also serving food from their popular sister store Vish.Shop, whose premises are temporarily closed. Vish.Shop’s slogan is #givefishabreak, and with their imitation “vish” and chips and cauliflower wings to die for, that slogan isn’t hard to live by. Veginity are also offering their stellar Chick’arnt Caesar Salad and Buddha Bowl and some of their classic burger meals, as well as a delicious range of dessert cake cups, with Snickers toffee pudding and Red Velvet cake just a select few of the mouth-watering options to choose from.

V Temple Bar

If you’re looking for vegan junk food heaven, look no further than V Temple Bar. Their V Dirt Boxes are a big hit – a munch box filled with vegan junk food, including nachos, fries, onion rings, cauliflower wings, and mozzarella sticks. They have loads more to choose from, including a wide selection of loaded fries – vegan pulled pork fries, vegan cheesy garlic fries, and way more. Even better, they’re offering 10% off all Deliveroo orders this month in honour of Veganuary!

Token

Token has become a staple for Dublin vegans over the years; they’ve veganised pretty much every staple food you could think of, with vegan chicken tenders, vegan nuggets, even a vegan take on classics like a Big Mac or a spicebag to satisfy those cravings. Located on Queen Street in Smithfield, they’ve recently released a new Vegan Chopped Cheese burger, described on their Instagram by Token themselves as “one of the tastiest things we’ve EVER made”. Now how could you say no to that?

Vegan Sandwich Co

If you’re looking for a more lunchtime or breakfast-oriented takeaway for those days when you’re not bothered to cook working from home, Vegan Sandwich Co have got it all – breakfast burritos, breakfast muffins, their famous Chick*n Fillet Roll, and a heap of delicious toasties and sandwiches, like their vegan BLT. The guys at Vegan Sandwich Co had been working out of North King Street over the pandemic but in September of last year finally opened their own permanent shop on Queen Street in Smithfield, gaining major popularity since, and it’s not hard to see why!

Kale + Coco

Kale + Coco are another lunchtime must-have to wrap up the list. Another Dublin 7 gem, located in Stoneybatter, they are Ireland’s first smoothie bowl bar, with a specific focus on healthy but delicious plant-based food. Kale + Coco use organic ingredients as much as possible and all their food is dairy-free and gluten-free, serving up a stunning range of delicious smoothies, nourish bowls and even hearty homemade soup; it’s the perfect treat for lunchtime!
