Ireland has decided to go into another 6 week lockdown which started on 21st of October 2020. The country will be in a 6 week lockdown to aid in minimising the spread in Covid-19 and lower the cases. 1. FutureLearn: Online Courses and Degrees 

 FutureLearn is an online learning platform that offers courses over an array of disciplines; whether you want to develop a professional skill or take up a new hobby, there are a number of courses to choose from. The platform is collaborative and allows you to chat and discuss with other students on your weekly topics as well as the educators. The educators, from top universities and cultural institutions, share their experience through videos, articles, quizzes and discussions. The courses can range from two weeks up to eight. FutureLearn is a great platform as you can choose nearly any course free of charge. You also have the option to upgrade the course for 49, which gives you a downloadable certificate and unlimited access to the course even after it has expired. 

This is a great option if you are on a budget yet also want to pick up a new skill or tackle some boredom. 

2. Coursera | Build Skills with Online Courses from Top Institutions

Coursera is an online course provider that has a massive offering of online courses, degrees and specialisations. There are hundreds of free courses that give you access to on-demand video lectures, homework exercises, and community discussion forums. There is an option for paid courses which provide additional quizzes and projects as well as a shareable Course Certificate upon completion. The pricing for this starts at $39 dollars. There are over 4,000 courses to choose from, and it is perfect for gaining professional skills and certificates which are shareable via LinkedIn. You can choose a course from business to IT.

Skillshare is a learning platform more focused on creative skills. There are thousands of classes for creative and curious people, on topics including illustration, design, photography, video, and freelancing all taught by experts in their area. On Skillshare, millions of members come together to find inspiration and take the next step in their creative journey. It’s learning style is through online videos which you follow along with. Courses are offered free but you have the option to go premium.

4. MasterClass Online Classes

This online learning platform is offered via subscription for 16.67 monthly. The platform has classes taught through videos from the world best in their respected areas. This is a great option for those wanting to take a new class for a hobby or passion. Each class includes around 20 lessons which are about 10 minutes each. It is easily accessible from smartphones and laptops. Courses offered include cooking taught by Gordon Ramsey and acting taught by Natalie Portman. This is a great option for taking a class you’ve always wanted to like cooking or drama but never got around to. 

5. LinkedIn Learning

This is offered on the social media platform LinkedIn.  It offers courses taught by experts on areas such as software, business and tech.  There are  more than 5,000 courses offered along with personalised recommendations, you can discover, complete, and track courses related to your field and interests. LinkedIn learning is available via subscription which is available on LinkedIn Premium for €29.98 . There is also a free month trial available. It is a great option for job and hiring opportunities as the courses you complete will be posted and downloaded straight onto your LinkedIn profile which employers can see.
